40k with sheep, cows, and two Germans.

Wellington, NZ. We just finished hiking a 40 kilometer coastal track in the south island's north east. A good, tough hike, with lots of beautiful coastal scenery and expansive views. One whole day was spent marching along an empty Pacific coast with towering sandstone cliffs.

There were only six of us on the trail at any one time, and two of the other travelers were a friendly pair of guys from Dresden. After the trek we gave them a lift up to Picton where we all caught the ferry to the north island and parted ways.

Today we start our last leg, roadtripping along the west coast of the north island, trekking through some thermal and volcanic areas, and heading in to Auckland for the long flight home.
